Zel Farrow
Zel Farrow’s journey into birth work began with her own lived experience.
Zel experienced birth trauma during her fifth birth and became deeply aware of what was missing from her care. While she had loving support, encouragement, and advocacy from her husband, she also could have benefitted from additional support, such as continuous, birth support focused on her physical, emotional, and informational needs during one of life’s most vulnerable moments. This realization became the foundation of her work.
As a doula, Zel provides steady physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, labor, and birth. Her approach is rooted in empathy, presence, and the belief that every birthing person deserves to feel informed, supported, and safe regardless of how many times they have given birth before.
Zel’s work aligns seamlessly with The Melanin-Fluent Doula Collective because it is grounded in lived experience, community trust, and a deep respect for birthing autonomy. She understands that birth support is not about control or perfection, but about holding space, reducing fear, and walking alongside families as they navigate their own journeys.
We are building a collective that centers culturally responsive care, advocacy, and real-world understanding, not theory alone. Zel embodies these values through her commitment to showing up fully for her clients and ensuring no one feels unseen or unsupported during birth.
Zel is currently accepting new clients.
